Hilltop House Heritage

Hilltop House & GroundsHilltop House was built in 1868 by Richards Bradley to demonstrate his suitability as a husband for his bride-to-be. The beautifully appointed Victorian home exemplifies the outstanding craftsmanship of the era. The original entrance way is dominated by a spiral staircase and 12-foot high ceilings of cast plaster. It is a pleasure to reside in such gracious surroundings.

Over the past 35 years, Hilltop House (formerly the Vermont Baptist Home) has made dignified independent living possible for hundreds of residents who have sought the comfort and security of Level III Residential Care. Hilltop House has always been a home—first to the Bradleys, later to the Harrises, now to our residents. The stately Victorian dwelling and expansive property are centrally located and overlook the Connecticut River.

In 1999, Hilltop House became a licensed Level III Residential Care Home. This change in licensure is significant because it allows our staf to provide a wider range of services, a higher degree of care, and nursing overview. Staff size has increased and new programs have been added. Medication management is provided for residents requiring assistance. Our residents take great comfort in the knowledge that they can age in place.
